real at what i do

i have spent the last two years of my life more committed to music than anything else. since i was in high school i've always wanted to do something in life that was music. music has always been a part of my life to varying degrees, but as a senior in high school i decided that i wanted to make music my sole purpose in life. at no point did i think that violin was going to be what kept me going in music, but i always recognized that it was at least a little important to me.

so much of how ive approached music has always been through the violin once i started learning it. i learned so much music just because i wanted to play my violin, but that can be said for any of the instruments i have attempted to learn, such as piano. however, violin has been the guiding factor in a lot of my musical decisions. until recently, i had no idea if i would ever be in a position to make any sort of money from music, let alone not playing my violin.

i never really played many gigs on my violin. if anything, performing has always been scary for me. but that doesn't mean ive avoided it. however, one thing that i've never turned down is the ability to be in the studio. whether thats producing beats in my room or using the electronic music lab at my university, im always searching for things to do and utilize those spaces.

my most recent event has been recording singers for an alumni of my school. i personally don't know this composer or have ever worked with 'em, but i did enjoy recording their piece and i even got a little bit of compensation for my work.

even with my own projects i've 'made money'. my indie punk band has maybe a total of like one thousand streams, but it's earned my band five dollars in the first 6 months of forming, which is pretty good for a bunch of young college boys trying to express themselves.

they say the first dollar is the hardest, the first grand is the hardest, the first mill... every milestone will be difficult, but if it was easy, everyone would be doing it...
